Description

Non-Abrasive

DKL Griptape won’t rip your shoes because its material is similar to the rubber found on ping pong paddles. Tested and proved legit alternative to sandpaper. #morechoices

Grippiness

Instead of abrasion, we use concepts like molecular adhesion and the plow effect to achieve the same friction as sandpaper.

EXAMPLE: Similarly, a Gym VS Outdoor Basketball Court both provide the same grip, but only one will cut you up.

Savings

Skateboarding is expensive. Keep your shoes fresh and save money ($$$).

IMPORTANT TIPS

TIP #1: Applying DKL Griptape

  • 1. Cut with a razor not already dulled by sandpaper
  • 2. Trim the grip at a tapered angle
  • 3. Sand the edges down
  • *see also our “How To Apply” video

TIP #2: DKL Griptape works best if your shoes don’t already have giant holes in them since it’s designed to grip your shoe’s material.

TIP #3: For a good as new grip, simply wipe with a damp rag to clean.

  1. vinnie

my skateboard is 31 by 8 inches (L x W) and i was wondering about the dimensions because it says 14.5 by 19 so that shouldnt fit? or have i got this wrong

    • Braille Shop

The non-abrasive grip will fit on your board if it is 31 x 8.

  2. Kyle Walker

It worked great as soon as I got it on my new deck, it looked clean and it worked just like any other grip tape except I did not see the notice to let it sit for how ever long it said after applying to a deck. When I when skating that day, the grip tape started peeling off the deck and I would repeatedly have to push the tape back on. After skating it for about 1 month, the grip is peeling on all sides and has become much less grippy. I would like to try it again and let it sit except the $15 price feels a little expensive for some grip tape.

  3. Michael

Wow, best griptape ever! I used to tear up shoes insanely fast and not anymore after switching to non-abrasive griptape. I’m on my 8th sheet. It is really grippy and I personally like it better than sandpaper. This is to help inform people that you need to follow their instructions to apply the griptape and you won’t have any issues. It’s also easy to clean if you get it too dusty. Dkl griptape for life!

  4. David R

Hey Braille, I love watching your videos and recently discovered your video about this griptape. As I am Canadian shipping is 16 American dollars on top of that there is duties and fees. Therefore I was wondering if there are any cupons at the moment.
    Thank you!

  5. Max

I was wondering since MOB grip tape is really grippy is this just as grippy like it would be good for beginners to learn to ali / 180 on it or is it easy to slip off.

    • Braille Shop

It is a little bit more slippery than traditional grip tape. It is intended to be used with new shoes for the most grip.

  6. Max

I was wondering if this would fit on my board with 1 sheet is 32 length and 8 width ( a sieries punisher deck)

    • Braille Shop

Yes, it should fit your deck.

  7. Elijah Bates

Not a review, but can you make a complete board with non-abrasive grip tape? I have been wanting to get into skateboarding for a little while, but going through shoes so quickly is too expensive for me and I have never made a skateboard before so I don’t feel confident applying the non-abrasive grip tape myself.

    • Chloe Holmes

      Hi Elijah,

No problem. If you get a complete, add non-abrasive grip to the order and put a note into the order requesting the non-abrasive grip be applied to the complete.

  10. Declan

hey i was wondering how weird it would be to put this on a 9.13 andy anderson deck. most of the middle is under 9 inches but where the hardware goes it is 9.13 so yeah

    • Erika Totanes

      Hi Declan,

The non-abrasive grip is only 9 inches wide. Your judgment here. To us, it’s a no go.

  11. Elek (verified owner)

It’s a great product. I have to get it here because the actual company doesn’t ship to Canada. Works just like regular grip tape.

    • Erika Totanes

      Hi Elek,

We’re so glad we are able to get you some non-abrasive grip tape!

  12. Zamil old school skater (verified owner)

So far, I think they feel just as grippy if not more than sandpaper. Installing it was easy, and the abrasive pad to sand the edges down was pretty cool. I bought an extra sheet for my daughters board.

  13. nav

Question… if it works best with new shoes.. than whats the point if you have to keep getting new shoes anyway…?

    • Erika Totanes

      Hi Nav,

It works best with newer shoes as they have the best grip.
Not necessarily brand new shoes! Some people like them so that their skate shoes last longer.

Everyone has their own preference. 🙂

  14. Leon

Hi, I’m from Germany and would like try out the Griptape. Is there an estimate when it will be available again?
    Greetings!

  15. Alexa

Hi I was wondering when this should be back in stock and is it good for a first skateboard. Can you put it on a complete or do I have to when I get it.

    • Erika Totanes

      Hi Alex,

This is great for people who don’t want to rip up those shoes from the griptape. Keep in mind, that you need to wear fairly new shoes with decent grip on the sole for the grip to work best for you.

If you’d like to have it applied to your board, just add it to your purchase and make the request under “Order Notes” during the final page of checkout.

    • Chloe Holmes

We should be getting more within the next week

  18. Elliot

Hi Braille team! Was just wondering whether there is a specific way to apply this grip tape sheet. Noticed in the other reviews that it peels off faster than traditional grip, maybe because there is a specific application method? Cheers

  19. Zac Velocity

It came a week ago and so far it’s not peeled off and the shipping was very quick I’m happy with this I recommend it as it didnt do anything to the shoes it’s worth it imo
